Community Responders sought in Monroe County to train for oil clean-up work

Jul 7

MIAMI – The Florida Peninsula Command Post Unified Command announced Saturday plans to establish a group of Qualified Community Responders (QCR) in Monroe County to prepare for the possibility that oil products need to be cleaned from beaches.
While there is no imminent threat of weathered oil products reaching the Florida Keys, there is a need to identify resources and to train individuals who can then respond immediately in the event weathered oil does impact the area. The threat of oil related products reaching the Florida Keys in the near future still remains low at this time.
The responders would be prepared to perform shoreline cleanup activities that may include carrying and handling materials and supplies, raking or shoveling debris, operating front end loaders or power washers to clean rocks and beach areas, wiping or washing oil-covered items, and removing trash.
All QCR’s must attend a 4-, 24- or 40-hour training session. The level of training required will depend on the specific role of the individual QCR. Training includes safety and proper handling of hazardous waste materials.
The local Work Force Development office will help identify up to 300 unemployed local residents throughout the Florida Keys who, once screened, would be paid during their training. The plan is to provide paid training to 100 local residents each in the Upper, Middle and Lower Keys. More people may be trained later depending on response needs.
To date, 520 QCR’s are being recruited and trained in Taylor, Dixie, Levy, Citrus and Hernando Counties.

NOAA – Deepwater Horizon: Statistical Modeling

Jul 7
Posted by admin Filed in Gulf Oil Spill

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has used computer models to estimate the potential threats to U.S. coastlines that might result if oil spilling from the Deepwater Horizon site continues until a relief well successfully stops the flow. Although it is impossible to predict precisely where surface oil will go in the coming months, it is possible to analyze where surface oil is most likely to go by (a) using historical wind and ocean current records; and (b) accounting for both natural processes of “weathering” and human intervention to recover and remove the oil. This Web page will be updated as more information becomes available.

Looking for Connections

We are preparing for a full scale test in the Gulf Blowout cleanup efforts.
Natural Solutions is seeking a biologist whom is permitted to clean animals that have been affected by the oil in the Gulf of Mexico.

We are securing a test site in the Pensacola region and are seeking volunteers that already have permission or skills to clean animals for our test products. The material is 100% non-toxic, performs 400% better than current materials in use, and has Florida EPA approval.

Once again we are looking for a biologist whom already has clearance to handle the oil affected animals from the Gulf Oil Blowout.

Very specific data is needed to correctly compute our response capability we are seeking the Parts Per Million (PPM) of oil and the dissolved oxygen levels (DO) in the waters of the Pensacola Beach area to be treated.

Natural Solutions of North America is working to resolve the cleaning of the affected areas due to the Deepwater Horizon Incident.

Gulf Coast Update – Wednesday

So it’s Wednesday evening. Settling down for the night in Pensacola.

Spent most of the day at the Oil Spill Task Force meeting. Met many future business associates and friends.

At the prompting of Rep. Patronis, I put my name on the list to speak to the panel. As I was the last one up I was also the person at the podium right before Attorney General Bill McCollum got up to address the room. So suffice it to say we were able to put our products and our purpose before the A.G. of Florida today. He mentioned to me later in the day that he thought it was a great product to put forward. Wait till he sees it work!

Streaming video of the meeting can be seen here: http://wuwf.org/radiotv/wuwftv.shtml

After the presentation several other groups approached me with further inquiry. We are now looking to partner with other technologies that are being introduced. I’ll fill you in more as things solidify.

We have also been asked by an business in Texas who want’s to partner with us via the Make It Count Foundation. They are donating a portion of the proceeds from wrist bands they are selling to the foundation so that bottles of Purely Green detergent can be made available, free of charge to those who are cleaning the wildlife, equipment etc.. This way no additional toxins are used.

So that’s the update for today.

Don’t for get to follow along at www.nationalsolutionsna.com and if you know of anyone who is looking for a way to assist in the coastal cleanup effort, remind them that they can donate online on our website. All donations are tax deductible.
